Resource Conservation Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
October 19, 2011
Page 2of 3
while Mark stated he was ambivalent because of the question around whether GMO
products could drift onto public lands from adjacent or nearby private agriculture and
what the implications of that would be, and additionally he wanted better
understanding of why the key parties involved (in particular Boulder County) support
GMO. Annie stated she would draft an email to send to the OSAB to engage them in
discussion with LSAB.
VIIIContribution to Community Update Newsletter
Arno will draft an article for the November newsletter with the focus of an efficient
lighting presentation (“Parade of Efficient Lights”) to be conducted by Dave Szabados
at the Louisville Public Library in the first week of December. Mark asked if there were
other energy topics we could include in the newsletter, however Arno stated that there
was limited space for the article so would have to defer other topics until the next
newsletter. He also noted that we anticipate having 4 Community Update newsletters
in 2012 vs 3 in 2011.
IX.Yearly LSAB meeting with City Council
Arno requested that we defer discussion of this topic until the December meeting so
that we would have new members present. There were no objections and the topic
was tabled until December.
X.Liveable Cities Presentation to other Boards
Mary Ann announced that she is in the process of scheduling her Liveable Cities
presentation to be delivered to other boards, and had established the following dates:
Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board: November 3, 7pm (first floor library meeting
room)
Downtown Business Association: February 15, 9am (Spruce room, City Hall)
XI.Water Plant PV website update
Arno had a follow-up comment to the item from September's meeting regarding getting
a link to the website with the PV power output from the water plant. He stated that he
had found the link on the Louisville city web site, but that it was somewhat obscure,
and he intended to ask Meredyth to add it to the Quick Links on the main page of the
city's site. He felt that Louisville should be doing more PR to promote its efforts in
solar power. In follow up to that comment,Dave noted that he had had an architect
prepare drawings for a possible PV panel installation on the South side of the City Hall
building, in which the PV panels would form an awning that would both shade the
windows as well as generate electricity. He will send out the drawings to LSAB
members.
XII.Cullen Choi's participation/leave
Annie raised the issue of Cullen's email regarding his commitment to a class that
would prevent him from participating in LSAB meetings through March 2012. There
was discussion among the members about whether he should continue on the board,
whether to move the meeting day, or other options.
