Section 4A-16.Mi1itaryLeaveBonus. A bonus in an amount equiva- lent to his ordinary pay for fifteen (15) calendar days shall be granted to any permanent employee who presents official orders for extended active service with the Armed Forces during a period declared by the President of the United States to be a period of national emergency. Section 4A-17. Sick Leave. Sick leave will be granted to every officer or employee in the City service, except temporary or seasonal employees, on the basis of one day for each month worked. For periods of sick leave over three (3) days duration the employee shall, at his expense, furnish the department a certificate or letter from the attend- ing doctor setting forth the reasons for the sick leave. Abuse of such leave shall be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including dis- charge. Sick leave may be accumulated up to one hundred and twenty (120) days. Payment for sick leave shall be at the direction of the City Administrator. Section 4A~18. Personal Leave. The City Administrator may author- ize extended personal leave with or without pay for any employee of the City requesting such leave through his department head. Such leave, with or without pay may be granted for training purposes or for urgent personal business. Section 4A-19. Reporting Absences. Any officer or employee of the City who finds it necessary to be absent from duty due to emergency, shall report the reasons therefor to his supervisor or department head by telegram or telephone at least one (1) hour before working time, on the first day of such absence. If this is not possible, the employee shall report to his supervisor or department head at the earliest possible time. Section 2. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances or sections or parts of Sections of the Municipal Code of the City of Louisville that are in con- flict with any parts of this Ordinance herein are hereby repealed. - 9 -
