<br />Section 4A-16.Mi1itaryLeaveBonus. A bonus in an amount equiva- <br />lent to his ordinary pay for fifteen (15) calendar days shall be granted <br />to any permanent employee who presents official orders for extended <br />active service with the Armed Forces during a period declared by the <br />President of the United States to be a period of national emergency. <br />Section 4A-17. Sick Leave. Sick leave will be granted to every <br />officer or employee in the City service, except temporary or seasonal <br />employees, on the basis of one day for each month worked. For periods <br />of sick leave over three (3) days duration the employee shall, at his <br />expense, furnish the department a certificate or letter from the attend- <br />ing doctor setting forth the reasons for the sick leave. Abuse of such <br />leave shall be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including dis- <br />charge. Sick leave may be accumulated up to one hundred and twenty <br />(120) days. Payment for sick leave shall be at the direction of the <br />City Administrator. <br />Section 4A~18. Personal Leave. The City Administrator may author- <br />ize extended personal leave with or without pay for any employee of the <br />City requesting such leave through his department head. Such leave, <br />with or without pay may be granted for training purposes or for urgent <br />personal business. <br />Section 4A-19. Reporting Absences. Any officer or employee of <br />the City who finds it necessary to be absent from duty due to emergency, <br />shall report the reasons therefor to his supervisor or department head <br />by telegram or telephone at least one (1) hour before working time, on <br />the first day of such absence. If this is not possible, the employee <br />shall report to his supervisor or department head at the earliest <br />possible time. <br />Section 2. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances or sections or parts <br />of Sections of the Municipal Code of the City of Louisville that are in con- <br />flict with any parts of this Ordinance herein are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />- 9 - <br />
