<br />Section 4A-12. How Vacation Leave Taken. Vacation credit in <br />excess of three (3) weeks from one calendar year to the next may not <br />be accumulated. Each department head shall keep necessary records of <br />vacation leave allowances and shall schedule vacation leaves with <br />particular regard to seniority of employees and to accord with oper- <br />ating requirements, and insofar as possible with the written requests <br />of the employees. <br />Section 4A~13. Pay in Lieu of Vacation. If in the discretion of <br />the City Administrator, an emergency exists, an employee of the City <br />may be granted the equivalent in money, of vacation leave to which such <br />employees is entitled for that year, but it is the policy of the City <br />Council that an employee shall be granted a full amount of vacation <br />leave each year. It is hereby declared to be the policy of the City <br />that vacation leave should be taken by eligible employees. <br />Section 4A-14. Military Leave with Pay. Any permanent employee <br />or probationary employee of the City who presents official orders <br />requiring his attendance for a period of training or other active duty <br />as a member of the United States Armed Forces shall be entitled to <br />military leave for a period or periods not to exceed a total of ten <br />(10) regular scheduled working days in anyone (1) year, and he shall <br />be entitled to payment from City in such amount as to make up the <br />difference between payment received from the United States Government <br />for this period and the amount he would ordinarily receive from the <br />City. Military leave shall be in addition to and may not be concurrent <br />with authorized vacation leave. <br />Section 4A-15. Military Leavewith6utPay. Military leave with- <br />out pay may be granted to any permanent City employee who presents offi- <br />cial orders to active duty.Military leave without pay shall have the <br />effect of allowing the employee to secure all seniority rights exactly <br />as if he were working for the City during this leave period. Except <br />that while on military leave no employee shall accrue any additional <br />sick or vacation leave. <br /> <br />- 8 - <br />
