<br />ORDINANCE NO. 429 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE BY PRO- <br />VIDING FOR INCREASES IN SALARY FOR THE ELECTED OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE, COLORADO <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the salaries of the elected officials of the City of Louis- <br />ville have remained constant for the most part over the last ten (10) years, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the worM load and time required of the elected officials of <br />the City of Louisville has increased considerably over the same period <br />of time, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Louisville feels it is in <br />the best interest of the City to raise the salaries in order to continue <br />to attract qualified persons to seek the elected offices of the City. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of <br />Louisville, Colorado, as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1: The following sections of Chapter 4 of the Municipal <br />Code of the City of Louisville are hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"4.2 Salries of Aldermen. Each alderman of the city shall <br />receive as full compensation for his services the sum <br />of $600.00 per annum, payable in equal quarterly pay- <br />ments. <br /> <br />"4.4 Mayor - Duties - Salary. The mayor shall be the chief execu- <br />tive officer of the city and conservator of the peace and <br />shall have such powers and perform such duties as may be <br />provided by law or this Code. Each and every appointive <br />officer of the city shall be subject to the control and or- <br />ders of the mayor. He shall have power to appoint special <br />police officers as he may deem necessary to preserve good <br />order and protect citizens or property in cases of emergency <br />when the council is not in session, but no appointment of such <br />special police shall be made for a longer time than to <br />the date of the next regular meeting of the council, and any and <br />all such appointments shall be made in writing signed by <br />the mayor and bear the seal of the city. The mayor shall <br />receive as full compensati on for hi s servi ces a salary of <br />$900.00 per annu~1 payable in equal quarterly payments. <br /> <br />"4.5 City Clerk - S8U~ - Bond. A city clerk shall be elected at <br />each general municlpal election. The city clerk shall receive <br />as full compensation for his services as such clerk the sum <br />of $9,000.00 per annum, payable in equal monthly payments. <br />Before entering upon the duties of the office, the clerk <br />sha 11 furni sh a surety bond to be approved by council, in <br />the amount of $10,000.00, conditioned upon the faithful dis- <br />charge of his duties as city clerk and that when he shall <br />vacate such office he will turn over and deliver to his <br />successor all remaining monies, books, papers, property or <br />things belonging to the city and remaining in his hands as <br />
