Board of Adjustment
Meeting Minutes
July 18, 2007

Loeblich asked if Mundelein had done any development outside of Louisville.

Mundelein stated he had not.

Malmquist and Mundelein discussed what is proposed to be developed.

Public Present in Favor of Application: None heard.

Public Present in Opposition of Application:

Barbara Hesson, 411 County Road, stated she does not support the request by
Mundelein. She does not agree that the style of architecture he has built in the past is
not historic looking for the town of Louisville.

Stewart asked staff when the design for the development would be known.

McCartney stated the style would be known at time of the PUD submittal that would be
reviewed by the Planning Commission at a public hearing.

Mark Piddock, 552 Main St., stated he lives west of the trailers and he requested a
clarification of the process because he has found it rather confusing. He also stated that
he did not feel that the other homes that Mundelein had built were in character with the
Old Town area.

Stewart reminded the audience that the role of the Board is to review the request for the
floodplain and any future development would not be reviewed by the BOA but by the
Planning Commission.

McCartney summarized the review process that the application will be reviewed under
by staff, the Planning Commission and City Council. He encouraged those interested
parties to participate in that process.

Malmquist requested Taylor discuss his professional qualification for determining the
floodplain development needs.

Taylor discussed his professional qualification and certifications and stated that he now
has his own consulting company.

Applicant ClosinG Comments: No additional comments.

Staff ClosinG Comments: No additional comments.

Public HearinG Closed / Board Discussion:
Stewart stated his satisfaction with the report and knows that staff will address the
concerns identified tonight with the appropriate board.

Malmquist also stated his approval of the request, specifically after his discussion with
the engineer regarding his professional career.

Weise also stated his agreement with the request.

Loeblich stated his agreement and that the criterion have been met.

Motion and Vote:
Stewart moved and Weise seconded a motion to approve the floodplain development
permit as presented by staff.
