PAGE SIX <br />SUBJECT: ORDINANCE NO. , SERIES 2011 — AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 15.36 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING <br />THE PROCEDURES APPLICABLE TO DEMOLITION REVIEW OF <br />BUILDINGS THAT ARE OVER FIFTY YEARS OLD <br />DATE: DECEMBER 6, 2011 <br />Windows, their openings, detailing and framing, are key architectural contributors and <br />character - defining features of any building. Everything from their size, placement, and <br />proportional relationship to the wall space, style, and materials contribute to how a building <br />looks and feels. <br />To eliminate the need for interpretation as to whether windows and doors are considered an <br />"exterior wall finish ", staff recommends LMC Section 15.36.020.c.1 be amended to include <br />the following: <br />The wall shall retain studs or other structural elements, the exterior wall finish, windows <br />(which includes glazing, framing, sill, sash, and muntins), doors, and the fully framed <br />and sheathed roof above that portion of the remaining building to which such wall is attached <br />Establish submittal requirements <br />LMC Section 15.36.200 does not require any submittal documents other than the demolition <br />application. The HPC directed staff to create a list of additional submittal requirements the <br />applicant must follow. Those submittal requirements are as follows: <br />D. Demolition application submittal requirements: The demolition application <br />submittal shall include the following: <br />1. A completed and signed by the owner Demolition application. <br />2. Social history of the structure to be demolished, moved or removed, except this <br />item shall not be required for an application solely for repair or replacement of <br />windows or doors. <br />3. Current photos of the existing structure. taken from all elevations. <br />4. Written description describing the plan for the building and need for demolition. <br />5. Drawings (plan and elevations) that illustrate areas and materials to be <br />demolished. <br />6. Conceptual drawing of proposed property improvements. <br />
