Youth Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />DATE <br />Page 2of 4 <br />-Mandy: We need two or three people to take the postcards home, punch some <br />holes through the top and put in some string to wear tomorrow as a sandwich <br />board (parade). (Daisy volunteered) <br />-The parade is from 6:30-7:30 Downtown; we are meeting at the Elks and I will <br />bring lights! (All but Zane are certain they can go, he is going to ask his parents) <br />-Megan: We have over 1000 postcards to hand out so hand them out to anyone <br />under 18 you see at the parade, friends, people you go to school with, little kids. <br />Everyone should get a stack. <br />-Eliza: Are we going to notify people about their acceptance into the book? <br />-Mandy: We might be able to get an “ad” in the paper (Hometown Weekly) <br />-Lynn: You can contact Doug Pike, the editor of the Hometown News or <br />Kimberly, one of the writers. <br />-(Daisy volunteered to contact him about a free press release to advertise <br />the project, the process of filling out cards...) <br />-Lynn: They love photographs. <br />-Megan: We could take one at the parade tomorrow. <br />-Mandy: Or one tonight around the postcard before we leave. Let’s break <br />5 minutes early to capture that before we leave. <br />Secondary Goal Setting: <br />-Megan: I think our plates our full with our monthly volunteer projects and all of <br />the Dear Louisville stuff. This topic can go off of the agenda for the time being. <br />Parade of Lights: <br />See above for meeting time and place. <br />-Megan: Are we wearing any coordinated costumes or outfits? <br />-Mandy: I have antlers and lights. <br />-Eliza: I’ll bring the banner tomorrow. <br />-Mandy: Maybe bring a handheld flashlight too since stringing the lights around <br />the edges of it last year didn’t work. <br />-(Brooke and Christina volunteered to hold the banner in the parade, Christina is <br />bringing a flashlight) <br />-Possibility of stringing lights around the postcards <br />-Kriska: If they don’t get destroyed during the parade, I’ll use them to advertise <br />the project at the library <br />Dessert/Story-time with Santa <br />-Sign-up for one or both shifts for Thursday, December 15th <br />-4-7pm or 6:15-8:30 pm <br />January Project: <br />-American Cancer Society Daffodil Days,more info to come at January meeting. <br />See above for January 16th Daffodil Days plan. <br /> <br />
