Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
DATE
Page 2of 4
-Mandy: We need two or three people to take the postcards home, punch some
holes through the top and put in some string to wear tomorrow as a sandwich
board (parade). (Daisy volunteered)
-The parade is from 6:30-7:30 Downtown; we are meeting at the Elks and I will
bring lights! (All but Zane are certain they can go, he is going to ask his parents)
-Megan: We have over 1000 postcards to hand out so hand them out to anyone
under 18 you see at the parade, friends, people you go to school with, little kids.
Everyone should get a stack.
-Eliza: Are we going to notify people about their acceptance into the book?
-Mandy: We might be able to get an “ad” in the paper (Hometown Weekly)
-Lynn: You can contact Doug Pike, the editor of the Hometown News or
Kimberly, one of the writers.
-(Daisy volunteered to contact him about a free press release to advertise
the project, the process of filling out cards...)
-Lynn: They love photographs.
-Megan: We could take one at the parade tomorrow.
-Mandy: Or one tonight around the postcard before we leave. Let’s break
5 minutes early to capture that before we leave.
Secondary Goal Setting:
-Megan: I think our plates our full with our monthly volunteer projects and all of
the Dear Louisville stuff. This topic can go off of the agenda for the time being.
Parade of Lights:
See above for meeting time and place.
-Megan: Are we wearing any coordinated costumes or outfits?
-Mandy: I have antlers and lights.
-Eliza: I’ll bring the banner tomorrow.
-Mandy: Maybe bring a handheld flashlight too since stringing the lights around
the edges of it last year didn’t work.
-(Brooke and Christina volunteered to hold the banner in the parade, Christina is
bringing a flashlight)
-Possibility of stringing lights around the postcards
-Kriska: If they don’t get destroyed during the parade, I’ll use them to advertise
the project at the library
Dessert/Story-time with Santa
-Sign-up for one or both shifts for Thursday, December 15th
-4-7pm or 6:15-8:30 pm
January Project:
-American Cancer Society Daffodil Days, more info to come at January meeting.
See above for January 16th Daffodil Days plan.
