<br />Louisville Cultural Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />DATE <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />Arts Center <br /> <br />Don reported that the DeckerlThomas Grain Elevator is a possible site for an Arts <br />Center. The grain elevator needs to be preserved. Karen Gerrity, our SCFD <br />representative, is the contact with the family that owns the land. Karen is <br />working to get a structural assessment of the building. We think we can get the <br />structural assessment funded from a state-wide organization, but additional funds <br />will be needed. The family is very interested in having a charitable component of <br />the request for the property. <br /> <br />Sponsorsh i ps <br /> <br />Kathy Pollicita publicly thanked Kathy Martin and Julie Seydel for their help in <br />reproducing the fund raising letter and mailing it out in June. <br /> <br />Kathy reported the total money raised from the letter as of today is $600 cash, <br />$100 donation from Safeway and four rounds of golf and carts. We will be <br />receiving $140 for the rounds of golf in August. <br /> <br />She also reported that the concert series raised $887.33 from sponsorships - The <br />Entrepreneur's Source, Cortinos Pizza, and solicited donations for water and <br />from the crowd. <br /> <br />We need to continue to ask for donations at all of our events. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br />Collaboration with other groups is needed for funding from SCFD. <br /> <br />Rene Heredia, a Flamenco guitarist, wants to work with us again, this time with <br />dancers. Because of the limited space available in Louisville, Wendy is working <br />to have them to perform at the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts, where <br />they will pay him $2,000. Wendy requested that LCC would contribute $500 <br />toward the concert from the Oct. Coffeehouse Concert budget. <br /> <br />Don Atwood moved to approve $500 Rocky Mountain Center for the Rene <br />Heredia performance. All in favor except for one. Motion approved. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br />David reported that the last children's concert was a huge success. Also, he <br />reported that there will be a silent movie and a children's concert in the fall. <br />
