Approval of Special Meeting on February 28, 2012 from 6:00— 7:00 PM
PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
Alan Sobel, 1408 Kennedy Avenue, Louisville, CO, continued the filibuster, which he
began on April 6, 2010. It was his belief there is collusion between the City of Louisville,
Comcast Television and the Greater Metro Telecommunications Consortium (GMTC),
which protects the interests of Comcast Television and not the citizens of the City of
Louisville. He referenced the January 17, 2012 City Council meeting and City Manager
Fleming's remarks, regarding his January 4, 2011 letter to Mayor Sisk. This letter
documented Comcast's lack of compliance. City Manager Fleming responded to Mr.
Sobel in November of 2011 however, Mr. Sobel did not think the response was relevant
to his request. He did not believe public comment at a City Council meeting was an
efficient way to conduct a conversation. He stated he would stand in witness to the City
officials promoting the interest of Comcast Cable Television and not the interest of the
citizens.
Deborah Fahey, 1118 W. Enclave Circle, Louisville, CO, President of the Senior
Foundation outlined the Savor the Favor Event, to be held on Saturday, February 11,
2012. Eighteen Louisville restaurants will donate 10% of the proceeds to the Louisville
Senior Foundation. The annual Heat Relief Dinner is Thursday, February 16, 2012,
from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Louisville Senior Center. The dinner is being donated by
Carrabba's. All proceeds will go to help defray the cost of senior citizen's heating bills.
Kara Edin, 580 Wildrose Way, Louisville, CO explained she is a Program Coach for the
Boulder County Circles Campaign. Public forums will be held throughout Boulder
County to engage communities to end poverty. A public forum will be held on February
13, 2012 from 5:30—7:30 p.m. at Sister Carmen Center at 655 Aspen Ridge Drive in
Lafayette. She distributed flyers and invitations to the Council.
COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA
Councilor Sackett is the liaison to the Louisville Senior Advisory Board and voiced his
support for the Savor the Favor Event and the Heat Relief Dinner.
Mayor Muckle agreed with Mr. Sobel relative to public comment at a City Council
meeting not being an efficient way to conduct a conversation. He noted there are
opportunities outside a City Council meeting to have a conversation.
