Open Space Advisory Board
Agenda
DATE
a.
The “De Haunting” program went off, after all. There were 85 people in
attendance. Eighty five hours of preparations and 6 volunteers were

employed.
b.
Fishing pond was filled at Daughenbaugh.
c.
Prairie dog permits have been delayed because of some changes in

the permitting with DOW.
d.
Spraying at Davidson Mesa is complete.
e.
The Mayhoffer 15 management amendment has been submitted for
approval to the City Council, and will be on the agenda at the Nov. 15

meeting.
f.
The next OSAB meeting will be held in the Spruce Room in City Hall.
g.
Renovations to the “White House” (aka the administrative offices for

parks, recreation and open space) are nearly complete.
h.
Staff is moving forward with the update of the Comprehensive Master

Plan for the Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails.

II. Board Updates
a.
Linda has contacted the Book Cellar, and they have agreed to donate

5 books for prizes for the geocaching project.
b.
Tom reported that several people have noted an aggressive coyote on
Warembourg. A report has been filed, and staff is looking into the

specifics of the complaint.

III. Discussion: Fire and Open Space
a.
At our last meeting, the Board expressed an interest in learning more

about fire and open space.
b.
There have been a number of fires on open space properties, all of

which were put out by the Louisville Fire Department (LFD).
i.
The City Administration and the Fire Department have been

discussing how to handle a fire on open space.
ii.
The LFD has been trying to anticipate and plan for the
possibility of a fire in open space. One example is that they
have purchased special rigs that would help reach areas that

are difficult to access otherwise.
iii.
The City has not engaged in prescribed burns in the recent past.
