Open Space Advisory Board <br />Agenda <br />Dec. 14, 2011 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />• The project to place crusher fines under the benches is going forward. <br />The crusher fines will help prevent weeds from growing up under and <br />immediately around the benches. <br />• Daughenbaugh — Live trapping of prairie dogs is ongoing. The objective <br />of the trapping is to reduce the population. <br />• Feasibility study is underway to assess the viability of a plan to transfer <br />water from Hecla Lake to Harney Lastoka for the purpose of cropland <br />irrigation. <br />• Aquarius parking lot is out for bid right now. Work should start next year. <br />• Staff is considering developing a volunteer database. One idea is to <br />develop a GIS database that would include an interactive map. <br />• There have been several citizen complaints that dog waste is on the rise. <br />Staff is seeking ways to address the complaints. <br />• There have been coyote issues that have arisen in the business areas <br />around the area of McCaslin and Dillon. There have been reports that <br />people are feeding the coyotes. <br />Staff intends to ask the local businesses if the City can put up its <br />coyote sandwich boards with information about feeding. <br />• Chris and Ember will be participating in the Christmas Bird Count put on <br />by the Audubon Society. <br />• The Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board (LSAB) would like to make a <br />presentation to OSAB regarding the Livable Cities project that they have <br />been working on. The Sustainability Board seeks OSAB's input on how to <br />employ some of the principles embraced by the Livable Cities program. <br />o The LSAB would also like to recommend to OSAB that we <br />recommend to Council that GMOs are banned on Louisville's open <br />spaces and on jointly owned lands. LSAB would like to meet jointly <br />to have this discussion. <br />■ OSAB determined that it would prefer to have an educational <br />"process" to permit the Board to inform itself and the public <br />of the issues before meeting with LSAB. <br />• OSAB is also waiting on word from the City Manager <br />as to how to proceed. <br />■ Ember also pointed out that Boulder County will be voting <br />soon on the GMO issue. Staff will review existing IGA's <br />related to management of jointly owned lands. <br />VII. Board Updates <br />• The Planning Commission has elected to continue the Comprehensive <br />Master Plan discussion until January 12, 2012. <br />
