It <br /> was reviewed and approved by the Planning Commission. He urged Council to approve <br /> the Ordinance. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENT <br /> Councilor Dalton noted the proposed ordinance adds an application, which makes the <br /> process more complex. He addressed the six month timeline for the demolition permit <br /> and suggested a one year period, after permit approval. He opposed the ordinance. <br /> Councilor Jasiak voiced her appreciation for the Historic Preservation Commission's <br /> work. She favored differentiating between commercial and residential structures. She <br /> thought there may be room to simplify the process. <br /> Councilor Keany asked for clarification of whether an applicant can file for a demolition <br /> permit. Planning Director Russ stated they can apply for a demolition permit, however, <br /> if the structure is over 50 years of age it will be referred to the Planning Division. <br /> Councilor Keany inquired whether there should be an appeal process. Planning Director <br /> • Russ stated the City Council will meet with the Historic Preservation Commission next <br /> month and could discuss an appeal process. <br /> Councilor Sackett felt the staff will walk the property owners through the demolition <br /> process. Mayor Muckle agreed and felt the Historic Preservation Commission and City <br /> staff has attempted to make the process more user-friendly. He supported going <br /> forward. <br /> Councilor Dalton stated a landmarked home is designated historic, however a <br /> commercial structure, who has not applied for landmark designation, is delayed for six <br /> month for a demolition review. <br /> Councilor Loo recommended postponing the Ordinance until the Council study session <br /> with the Historic Preservation Commission. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Michael Menaker, 1827 W. Choke Cherry Drive, Louisville, CO addressed the <br /> differences between architectural merits and social significance. <br /> Michael Koertje, Historic Preservation Commission, 887 Welsh Court, Louisville, CO <br /> explained no projects have been held up by the Historic Preservation Commission or <br /> • the City staff. <br />
