City Council
Special Meeting Minutes
February 28, 2012
•
Steve Costello, 902 Grove Street, Louisville, CO noted if the City cannot use the
information, there is no sense in asking the question. He stated the question
relative to the open space tax is misleading and should be clear and require a
yes or no answer.
Deputy City Manager Balser noted other entities are asking these questions.
Mayor Muckle requested discussion on the library tax question. Mayor Pro Tern
Dalton did not support the library tax question.
City Manager Fleming stated he could revise library tax questions to inquire
whether residents would support using part of the tax for library operations.
Councilor Jasiak stated she would need to know how the tax is currently being
used to ensure it is used properly. City Manager Fleming cautioned it might be a
misleading question in order to influence the voter.
Councilor Loo addressed the RTD tax question and noted there will be three tax
questions. She did not feel it would be appropriate to have three questions on
the questionnaire. Councilor Yarnell felt those tax questions would add valuable
information.
• Councilor Loo asked Ms. Urban whether three tax questions on the questionnaire
would be appropriate. Ms. Urban stated Louisville residents are highly educated
and involved in their community. She felt they would respond to all the tax
questions. Councilor Sackett noted the survey does not make law and only
serves as a tool.
MOTION: Mayor Muckle moved to approve the revised version of the survey,
which will be prepared by City Manager Fleming and will include a library tax
question if appropriate wording can be defined, seconded by Councilor Yarnell.
Mayor Pro Tern Dalton voted no. The vote on the motion carried.
ADJOURN
g was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
U!
'vdri‘-t-- A 444
PORobert Muckle, Mayor
• Nancy Vara, City Clerk
