City Council
Special Meeting Minutes
February 28, 2012
particular question has been asked in previous surveys to determine customer
service levels. Councilor Loo explained the thought behind the questions was to
get information relative to the service levels of City departments. That's why
there are departmental sections.
Councilor Dalton asked whether the question relative to the most recent contact
with a City department be removed. Councilor Yarnell agreed.
Ms. Urban explained a question can be added to ask which department the
resident has had recent contact with and what was the experience like. Councilor
Loo agreed and noted the question should be very specific because there are so
many departments and divisions.
City Manager Fleming stated if there is space on the questionnaire, he would like
to determine which department has concerns. Councilor Yarnell suggested
adding a question asking the resident to rate the quality of the interaction with
each department. Ms. Urban stated if only half of the residents have contact with
a City department, those questions would be skipped over.
Mayor Pro Tem Dalton suggested City Manager Fleming use the City Council's
input to revise the survey questions.
• Mayor Muckle favored adding a question about the City's winter walkability, with
respect to snow removal. Councilor Jasiak agreed the question was actionable.
Mayor Muckle also favored asking a question about the public knowledge of the
City Council/Planning Commission meeting agendas. It would determine what
percent of the residents read and have knowledge about matters which come
before the City.
Mayor Muckle suggested changing the term historic buildings to preservation of
historic buildings. Public Relations Manager Muth explained that question was
on the last survey. Councilor Jasiak was in favor of keeping the same
terminology.
Mayor Muckle suggested changing the language in the open space tax to reflect
the tax was amended in 2002.
Mayor Mucke was also in favor of asking at least one question on RTD. Mayor
Pro Tem Dalton cautioned against any RTD question as they will not have any
effect on what RTD ultimately decides. Councilor Jasiak suggested the question
be carefully worded. There was support for a carefully worded RTD question.
• PUBLIC COMMENT
