Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
Feb. 8, 2012
She recommended that the feeder ditch near Heritage Park may be
o
an appropriate place to have a “beautification” project, including
placing native plantings, etc.
She also noted that there are some existing fences that are not in
o
good condition, and there are some places where fences are
needed along the ditch with the concrete path.
She stated that after spraying that took place on Warembourg a
o
couple of summers ago, she noticed a detrimental impact on the
insect population in the area.Staff stated that there was no
herbicide work implemented by the City at Warembourg for the year
indicated.
IX. Action: Draft Questions for the Louisville Citizen Survey
OSAB discussed the proposed expansion in the use of Open Space Tax
funds at the golf course. The Board has strongly indicated that it would
not support such a use.
Citizen Survey Question by OSAB:
(1) The Conservation Trust Land Acquisition Fund Sales Tax
o
(0.375% exclusively for the acquisition of open space, trails, wildlife
habitats, wetland preservation and future parks and development,
construction, operation and maintenance of these areas) approved
by Louisville voters in 2002, is set to expire January 1, 2014. The
City Council is proposing a referendum to renew this sales tax
provision.
(a) How likely is it that you would vote for a continuation of
the current 0.375% Open Space Tax for a term of 10 years?
(b) How likely is it that you would vote for a continuation of
the current 0.375% Open Space Tax for a term of 25 years?
(c) Broomfield and Superior have open space taxes that do
not expire. How likely is it that you would vote for a
continuation of the current 0.375% Open Space Tax in
perpetuity?
(2) To what extent do you support or oppose the following types of
o
spending from the Conservation Trust Land Acquisition Fund?
Acquiring land for open space
Maintaining existing open space properties
Managing and restoring wildlife habitat
Maintaining parks
Monitoring and management of wildlife
Providing environmental education and outreach
Expanding volunteer programs
Developing trails and trail connectivity
Enforcing open space rules and regulations
(3) To what extent do you support increasing the Conservation
o
Trust Land Acquisition Fund to 0.500%?
