He stated a lot of energy is being used when recycled water
is pumped from the Waste Water Treatment Plant. He asked if there is an optimum
time to draw this water, which would be more energy efficient. He asked when the club
house is remodeled should they look at solar panels on the roof. He suggested the golf
course be reviewed for energy efficiency. Facilities Manager Szabados stated he has
not reviewed the Golf Course for energy efficiency. It was noted the golf course is
managed by Western Golf.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Councilor Keany suggested putting percentages on the pie chart slide entitled Louisville
Top 10 — 2011 Energy Use by Location and Energy Cost by Location. He addressed the
water plants and asked if there is a way to keep the peak usage down in the summer
time. Facility Manager Szabados explained the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent
Sid Copeland is very cognizant of peak demands and manages the process very well.
Public Works Director Kowar confirmed the Water Treatment Plant and Waste Water
Treatment Plant Superintendents manage the process between the different plants and
zones very efficiently.
Councilor Keany inquired whether the reuse water for the parks and the golf course
runs during the day or at night Parks and Recreation Director Stevens explained it runs
at different times.
Councilor Loo thanked Facility Manager Szabados for a very impressive and informative
report.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION/ACTION — RTD FASTRACKS HYBRID PROPOSAL
Deputy City Manager Balser updated Council on the RTD FasTracks Monitoring
Committee decision to support staff's recommendation on the Hybrid proposal and
forward it through the DRCOG 208 process and to the RTD Board on March 27, 2012.
The second action was to forward their 2012 Annual Program Evaluation to the RTD
Board for action. The vote on both items was 13 to 2. Mayor Pro Tem Dalton asked if
this would provide the extra options discussed with RTD. Deputy City Manager Balser
