City Council
Meeting Minutes
April 3, 2012
• Downtown Updates—The DBA is investigating the use of pedicabs during the
Street Faires to mitigate traffic issues. Cactus Wheel restaurant has changed
hands, and will re-open in April as Le Revolucion" and will serve Mexican fare,
• USDA Grant for Food Incubator in CTC — Staff is waiting to hear if we were
awarded the grant for a feasibility study on a natural food incubator.
• Centennial Valley Merchants —are considering a name change that reflects its
location on McCaslin. Papa Murphy's Pizza closed down. A new restaurant in
Colony Square has opened called Parma.
Mayor Pro Tern Dalton stated it was a pleasure working with Economic Development
Director Star on the BRaD Committee and the City Council. He thanked her for her
service to the City of Louisville: Economic Development Director Star noted Becky
Hogan had advanced the economic program. She stated working with the City of
Louisville these past three years has been rewarding and she looks forward to the
changes ahead. She voiced her appreciation to the Mayor and Council.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION/ACTION — CITY HALL, 2ND FLOOR SPACE
IMPROVEMENTS
Mayor Muckle requested a staff presentation.
City Manager Fleming explained the City Manager's office area has a number of
unconventional room layouts. The proposed improvements will have a positive impact
on the functionality of the area and correct the deficiencies in the Economic
Development Division office (EDD) to allow a space to meet with existing and new
business owners. Staff investigated options for moving walls to make the space larger
and more functional. If changes are made to the EDD office, it would also help to
change the layout of some spaces in the Public Works Department. The intent of the 2"d
floor improvements includes the following:
• Enlarge the EDD's office to a size where meetings can be held with a group of up
to four.
• Reduce the number of angles within rooms that make it difficult to layout office
furniture.
• Improve circulation in the Executive Administration (EA) area and allow the
Executive Administrative Assistant to directly greet incoming traffic.
• Reconfigure the Deputy City Manager's access so that entry is through the EA
area and close off the direct entrance into the Deputy City Manager's office.
• Reconfigure the entry to Public Works so the Director has direct access to the
Engineering staff and provide a small informal meeting space for staff and public
to layout and review plans.
• Complete carpet and door improvements that were started in 2006 but never
completely finished.
