City Council
Meeting Minutes
April 3, 2012
Mayor Muckle moved to approve the agenda as amended, seconded by Councilor
Keany. All were in favor. Absent: Councilor Yarnell.
PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
Mary Kay Knorr, 1209 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO spoke in support of preserving
the grain elevator. She outlined the history of the grain elevator, which was built in 1906
and was a part of Louisville's agriculture, mining and railroad history. She stated it is
the last grain elevator in Boulder County, which is capable of being preserved. She
urged Council to seek grants to restore the grain elevator.
Rich Channel, 1611 Circle Drive, Louisville, CO, also spoke in support of preserving the
grain elevator. He knew members of the Thomas and Decker families. He thought the
grain elevator was worthy of preservation and felt it would help the City.
Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO spoke in support of preserving the
grain elevator. She felt the restored grain elevator would be focal point for the south
entrance to downtown and urged Council to explore all avenues for its preservation.
She explained the co-owner would like the City to purchase the property and take
advantage of various grants available for preservation. She stated Rachel Parris,
Endangered Places Program Coordinator, with Colorado Preservation Inc., is anxious to
work with the City.
Dustin Sagrillo, 737 W. Raintree Court, Louisville, CO. In Mr. Sagrillo's absence, Jean
Morgan, read his letter of support for preserving the grain elevator.
Alan Sobel, 1408 Kennedy Avenue, Louisville, CO, continued the filibuster he began in
April of 2010. It is his belief there is collusion between the City of Louisville, Comcast
Television and the Greater Metro Telecommunications Consortium (GMTC), which
protects the interests of Comcast Television and not the citizens of the City of Louisville.
He referred to meetings where his concerns were rebuffed by the City Manager and
stated local government officials gave public access equipment to a school in Lafayette.
He stated he would stand in witness to the long-time practice of City officials promoting
the interest of Comcast Cable Television and not the interests of Louisville citizens
APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA
Mayor Muckle requested Consent Agenda Item D — (Approval of Independent
Contractor Agreement with TischlerBise) be moved to the regular business agenda as
Agenda Item 812. He called for other changes and hearing none, moved to approve the
agenda as amended, seconded by Councilor Sackett. All were in favor. Absent:
Councilor Yarnell.
A. Approval of Bills
B. Approval of March 6, 2012 Regular Meeting Minutes
