Open Space Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />March 14, 2012 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> Highest risk open spaces: Davidson Mesa, Coyote Run and North <br />Open Space <br /> The report also contains recommended treatment options for each open <br />o <br />space. <br /> Prescribed burns are one treatment recommendation / option for a <br />few of the open spaces. <br /> Benefits of burns: Increase native grass production, <br />introduce nutrient rich ash into the soil, increase forage and <br />browse quality for wildlife, reduce the intensity of wildfires by <br />reducing the fuel load in a controlled environment. <br /> OSAB would like to put this topic on the agenda for a future meeting, so that we <br />can discuss and make recommendations regarding fire planning and <br />management. <br />VI. Discussion: City of Louisville 2012 Comprehensive Plan Update <br /> a. Presented by Gavin McMillan, Planning Department <br /> The Comprehensive Plan is required to be updated every 3 years – so, the <br />update must be completed in 2012. <br /> Staff is looking for input from all of the boards and commissions about the core <br />values of our community. Information collected will be used to improve the <br />Community Vision Statement. <br /> www.envisionlousivilleco.com <br />o <br />VII. Staff Updates <br /> Staff is in the process of hiring seasonal employees. <br /> Open Government Training – The following people need to attend training: <br />Alison, Spencer, Mike, Laura, and Linda.Training is available on Monday April <br />9 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm or on Friday April 13 from 8:30 am to 10:30am. <br />th <br /> 96 and Dillon (the Tennis Center) has submitted their final PUD. There were <br />no significant changes from what OSAB reviewed. <br /> There is now a draft available of the 2012 Citizen Survey. <br />st <br /> Friday, March 23, 7pm, Library 1 Floor Meeting Room – The Center for Snake <br />Conservation will present a family educational program about snakes and snake <br />conservation. <br /> The presenter will additionally be coordinating a snake survey program. <br />o <br /> Kathy Kron will be resigning from the City, and her last day is Friday. <br /> Americans with Disabilities Act Title II Audit is going on right now. The report <br />will likely lead to some changes in how we administer some of the trails in our <br />system. <br /> City Council confirmed that they are still on board with the Washington / <br />McCaslin underpass, despite the changes in council members and an increase <br />in the price of the project. <br /> CTC to Downtown trail plans have been submitted. Staff hopes to put that <br />project out to bid this spring. <br /> <br />
