Open Space Advisory Board <br />Nlinutes <br />April 11, 2012 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />• The trail has been designed so that it minimizes site impacts. For example, a <br />route has been chosen that avoids bisecting the open space and drainage issues <br />have been addressed in advance in order to prevent erosion. <br />• Total length — approx. 1,200 linear feet <br />• The project is at the 90% stage for plans and the project will go out to bid soon. <br />Anticipated completion date is Fall 2012. <br />VI. Staff Updates <br />• Fishing Frenzy — Friday, April 20. Staff is looking for volunteers. There are 3 time <br />slots available — set up, 1st session and 2nd session. <br />• The revamping of the Aquarius Parking Lot is well underway. Plantings (all xeric and <br />native plants) should be installed by the weekend. <br />• Trail camera pictures have picked up coyotes, skunk, water fowl, a red tail hawk, <br />woodpeckers, and a heron. <br />• The Snakes Alive education program was very well attended with approx. 90 people <br />in attendance. <br />• Education programs <br />April: <br />• Poop pick up at the Dog Off leash Area on Davidson Mesa — April 14, <br />8-10a. <br />• Fishing Frenzy — April 20, 9 -1 p <br />• Mystery of Bird Migration Slide Presentation — April 23, 7-8:30p <br />• Noxious Weed ID — April 26, 6:30 — 7:30p <br />o May: <br />• 2nd Annual Spring Snake Count — May 13, 1-3p at Davidson Mesa <br />• 5th Annual Pull 4 Colo. Weed Pull Event — May 19, 9-noon <br />• Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Presentation — May 24, 7-8p <br />o June: <br />• Open Space Open House — June 2, two sessions at the Touch a Truck <br />(9-11:30a) and the Taste of Louisville (12:30 — 4p) <br />o July: <br />• Explore Our Waterways with Keep it Clean Partnership — July 25, 9- <br />10a <br />VII. Board Updates <br />• Helen and Mike are working on the Explorer's Notebook and the multi -cache. They <br />have also been working on making sure some of the cache mounts are in place and <br />that the coordinates are accurate. <br />o Laura has volunteered to do outreach to the elementary schools to promote <br />the program. <br />• Pearl Izumi is locating its world headquarters in the CTC. <br />
