We will be on vacation during the time of the neighborhood meeting on June 1, so wanted to pass along some thoughts. First, thanks for scheduling a meeting with all of us in the area- -great idea. The vacant store is a drag on the area, for sure. We could walk to purchase our groceries, so miss the Safeway. One of our concerns is that the proposed redevelopment also enhance the visibility and potential business for the existing stores in the adjacent shopping center. We try and use them, and do know they have suffered as a result of Safeway closing. A mixed -use residential community is a little vague for us to visualize, but using the parking lot I assume means some new construction and landscaping. That sounds like a nice improvement. Hopefully small businesses such as cafes, etc. would be included in the plans. One significant factor to plan around will be vehicle vs. pedestrian access.
