Planning Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 23, 2012 <br />Page 3 of 12 <br />1) Current Rental Apartments: <br />a. 684 units <br />b. 9% of housing stock <br />2) Current Rental & Condominium Apartments: <br />a. 684 Rental Units <br />b. 1,152 Condominiums <br />c. 15% of housing stock <br />3) Rental, Condominium and Approved Apartments: <br />a. 684 Rental Units <br />b. 1,152 Condominiums <br />c. 386 approved <br />d. 19% of housing stock <br />4) Apartment Analysis Summary: <br />LandUseResidential <br />Acreage Units <br />Apartment Totals 73 1,733 <br />CITY TOTAL UNITS5,183 7,756 National Average <br />% Apartment Units 22%29% <br />% Rental Units 10%21% <br />Special Review Use discussion included a review of the SRU criteria. <br />Russ concluded with a recommendation of approval. <br />Commission Questions of Staff during Staff Presentation: <br />Lipton requested a clarification of the BVSD table used to illustrate the school <br />population and the ability of the district to serve the students. <br />Lipton stated the Commission should be mindful of these needs when reviewing <br />residential projects. <br />Russell asked if the school enrollment figures are the current numbers. <br />Russ stated yes. <br />Russell asked if they were misrepresenting figures. <br />Russ stated it is hard to say without asking BVSD. <br />Lipton clarified there are currently apartments in the area; therefore this is not a new <br />residential type of the area. <br />Russell asked to see the power point slide illustrating the breakdown of housing <br />types. <br />Russ briefly reviewed and pointed out the City of Louisville is below the National <br />Average. <br />Russell stated the National Average could be skewed by the larger cities such as <br />New York, Chicago, etc. He asked how these figures relate to similar sized <br />communities. <br />Robinson stated the National Average takes into consideration the different <br />population sizes. <br />
