Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
March 19, 2012
Page 10of 12
McCartney – keep in mind the Comprehensive Plan is a broad look at the community. If
a closer view is needed we can do that through a specific plan which could come at a
later time.
Stewart – I didn’t see sustainability shown in the outline as a separate section.
Robinson – The Sustainable Advisory Board did not want a specific element for
sustainability, they wanted it included in every section.
Lewis – Sustainability is one of those topics that can get lost if the broader picture is not
considered. For instance historic preservation is the most sustainable process there is.
Fasick – Is there a broader, National connection in this plan so that we can have more
connection with our neighbors.
Robinson – yes.
Discussion – Jefferson Place Survey
McCartney presented the memo from the packet. There are examples inthe packet of
what the surveys will look like. The project is anticipated to be completed this
September. This is going to be a very thorough project for the money that we are
paying.
Stewart – I was impressed with these example forms. This is a great format. It would
be great if we could use this type of form for our landmark requests submitted by staff.
Is this going to be adaptable for GIS.
McCartney – yes.
Committee Reports
None.
Update on Demolition Request
None.
Department Referrals
None.
Itemsfrom Staff
Annual Goals from City Council Study Session
McCartney presented the memo detailing the City Council study session. One item
Council mentioned was they wanted us to research the existing dormant permits and
send a letter to the applicants so they understand their permits are no longer valid.
