Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
March 19, 2012
Page 11of 12
Council also discussed the demolition process regulatory modifications. They were
interested in moving forward with the language presented with some minor
modifications to what waspresented. Some on Council wereconcerned with having a
moving target for the 50 years or older requirement. They thought it might be best to
establish a specific time period, such as buildings built before WWII, rather than having
the 50 years continually progress forward.
Koertje – I am not sure whether their concern of the roving 50 years is regarding the
demolition process rather the landmarking of buildings.
La Grave – the hardship extension bothers me because there did not seem to be any
discussion regarding the criteria involving a hardship.
McCartney – staff could draft something that might be used to review a potential
hardship. We can bring it back for you to review before we send to Council.
Koertje – it seemed like they wanted to see more historical preservation maps on the
website as well. They also wanted the community to participate in the surveys we are
doing.
May 11 Training in Pueblo
McCartney presented the item to inform the HPC of this training session to see if
anyone was interested in attending.
There was a brief discussion regarding this training session.
Survey – Reconnaissance Survey
McCartney presented this item explaining an RFP is the next step for moving forward. It
was recommended staff work with an HPC volunteer to create an RFP. This process
will more than likely involve some citizen assistance.
H.S.A Austin Niehoff
McCartney presented this item and gave an update. Humphries Poli was chosen to do
this project and we are awaiting the State to finalize the Grant approval.
Stewart – how long will the process take once it begins.
McCartney – 5 months.
Bylaws
McCartney suggested this item should be continued to next month.
The HPC agreed.
