Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
March 19, 2012
Fasick seconded the motion.
Name Vote
MikeKoertjeYes
Heather LewisYes
Jessica FasickYes
Florian Speier Absent
Aquiles La GraveYes
Peter StewartYes
Steve PoppitzAbsent
Motion passed:5to 0
Stewart – Now is the time for everyone in the City of Louisville to work together to try
and save this structure through any means necessary. We normally provide assistance
for the applicant on design assistance.
La Grave – I would love to volunteer.
Koertje – Iwould also volunteer if there is additional need.
Stewart – I will also volunteer.
Russ – City Council is also well aware of this application. Look forward to a future study
session on this application. The City will look towards your expertise in furthering future
discussions.
Koertje – The public can also contact their City Council members to show how important
this project is in this community.
Action – Grant Request – 1131 Jefferson Avenue
McCartneypresented the packet information.Asked Peter Stewart to provide additional
information based on the review of the structural analysis.
Stewart – The HPC assigned Steve Poppitz and myself to work with the applicant on this
project to talk about the priority items. The primary concern is the roof structure. We worked
with the applicant’s contractor to determine how to reduce the overall cost of this project. Part
of the cost savings was to remove the concrete footer work being requested in the basement,
as well as the omission of asbestos abatement in theattic. It was tested and found not to
exist..
Lewis – thank you Peter for facilitating this project.
Janice Hoffman – Thanked the HPC on working so hard with her to make this structure safe.
The review of the structural components has reduced this structure to a more palatable
amount.
Koertje – How is this application going to apply to the more recent modifications Council
approved for the grant restrictions. It is my opinion this project should be grandfathered.
Stewart – I agree, but we will needto check into this.
