COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MALCOLM FLEMING, CITY MANAGER <br />DATE: MAY 1, 2012 <br />SUBJECT: RESOLUTION NO. 30, SERIES 2012 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN <br />AMENDMENT TO THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED PLANNED UNIT <br />DEVELOPMENT (PUD) FOR 1812 BOXELDER STREET, LOTS 1 &2, BLOCK 5, <br />CTC 1, TO ALLOW A 38' TOWER WHICH EXTENDS TO 54' WHEN <br />TEMPORARILY TESTING WIND GENERATORS MANUFACTURED ON SITE <br />ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: PLANNING AND BUILDING SAFETY <br />SUMMARY: <br />The subject property is located within the Colorado Technology Center (CTC). The original <br />planned unit development (PUD) was approved in 1995 for industrial /office use. Boulder Wind <br />Power has recently leased the space for use as a new headquarters and manufacturing plant. <br />The office space in the building is currently being remodeled and expanded to suit the <br />applicant's needs. Boulder Wind Power designs and manufactures utility scale wind turbine <br />generators. A wind turbine generator is the portion of a windmill that converts the rotational <br />energy of the blades into electricity.
