PAGE TWO
SUBJECT: RESOLUTION NO. 30, SERIES 2012 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN
AMENDMENT TO THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED PLANNED UNIT
DEVELOPMENT (PUD) FOR 1812 BOXELDER STREET, LOTS 1 &2, BLOCK 5,
CTC 1, TO ALLOW A 38' TOWER WHICH EXTENDS TO 54' WHEN
TEMPORARILY TESTING WIND GENERATORS MANUFACTURED ON SITE
DATE: MAY 1, 2012
Properties to the north, west, and south are all zoned Industrial (I). The property to the east is
zoned Agricultural (A) and contains a residence and a llama farm.
SUMMARY OF PROPOSAL:
The applicant, Boulder Wind Power, is requesting a tower in the rear (north) of the lot on which
to test newly completed wind turbine generators. The tower would be 38 feet tall when empty
and 10 feet in diameter. When the generator is attached, the whole assembly would be 54 feet
tall. The generator is circular, with a diameter of 40 feet. The current business plan anticipates
the generators would be attached to the tower between two and four times a year, each time
the generator remains attached for between two (2) and thirty (30) days. For flexibility, the
applicant is requesting permission to operate the generator up to 8 times a year for no more
than 150 days.
1
5
