Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board Meeting Minutes:Wednesday, May 16, 2012 City Hall,749 Main Street, Spruce Room I.Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chair Cullen Choi at 6:38pm. Minutes taken by Mark Persichetti. III.Approval of Current-Meeting’s Agenda: The agenda was approved as-is. IV. Approval of April Meeting Minutes: The minutes from the April 18, 2012meeting were approved as written. V. Public Commentson Items Not on the Agenda: Guest Doug Grinbergs brought up concerns about local trash collection. First, he noted he’s seen increasing scattered trash materials on our regular trash-collection days, from containers that are tipped over, have unsecured lids (broken latches?), or are overfilled so lids can’t close. He stated he’s contacted city staff and Western Disposal to try to find out who’s responsible for finding remedies. Mark will do a write-up for the next community update. Doug also noted that some city flower planters are being used as trash receptacles during the winter season. He cited as an example the pole-mounted planters near Pine & Front Sts, nearLucky Pie& Sweet Cow. He asked if we can consider remedies to get the trash & recyclables into appropriate receptacles. VI. Discussion, CU Greenhouse-Gas Study: This is a follow-up discussion from last month’s presentation by Mr Abel Chavez from CU-Denver, on that school’s program to offer local greenhouse- gas-emission assessments & recommendations (see April-2012 meeting minutes for details). The members present had a brief discussion about whether to pursue having such a study done for Louisville. Some concerns were expressed about the costs, whether the study could accurately determine our local carbon impact, if recommendations would be specific to our city, if we could simply extrapolate the findings and recommendations of their Golden study. Members decided to carry-over this discussion to our June meeting, to include allmembers in the discussion. VII. Comp-Plan Discussion: Prior to this meeting, we had received a draft copy of the Planning Dept’s proposed Vision Statement for the Comp Plan. At the beginning of our meeting, Planning Dept Director Troy Russ passed around copies of a revised draft (a single word had been changed – a copy of his hand-out is attached as part of these minutes). Troy stated he would be presenting the th , and to the City Council on June proposed Vision Statement to the Planning Commission on May 24 th 19. He asked us to review the revised draft copy, offer our suggestions, and hopefully provide our board’s endorsement to be attached to it prior to his presentation to the other groups.
