City Council
Study Session Summary
April 24, 2012
• Jay Keany asked if the public parking lot behind the preschool at Pine and
LaFarge can have a sign installed now showing that it is a public lot.
Discussion Items for Next Study Session on May 8, 2012 and Identification
of Future Agenda Items
• Councilmember Loo asked if staff could give an update on the outcome of
the meeting with the state preservation group, History Colorado, regarding
the Grain Elevator.
City Manager Fleming said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss
grants and other funding options for historic preservation in Louisville in
general and specifically the grain elevator. The members of History
Colorado were very complimentary of the efforts by the City to save the
grain elevator. Aaron DeJong, Economic Development Director is putting
together possible sources of funding for the redevelopment of the Grain
Elevator in Louisville, which could include funding through the State
Historic Fund. The Invitation for the RFP for the Historic
Preservation /Redevelopment of the Louisville Grain Elevator has been
sent out and proposals are due back by May 23rd. It was noted that the
Planning Department has been receiving inquiries from possible
responders to the RFP. Mayor Pro Tem Dalton asked what would it take
for the City to buy the grain elevator and asked for a fiscal analysis of the
costs. City Manager Fleming said the responses to the RFP will help the
City with such an analysis. Mayor Pro Tem Dalton would like the analysis
done as soon as possible.
Adjourn - The meeting adjourned at 9:40 PM.
Submitted by Polly Boyd
April 25, 2012
