Posted in City Hall, Public Library, <br />Recreation Center and the Courts and Police Building on March 28, 2012. <br />Conflict of Interest: <br />None heard. <br />Staff Report of Facts and Issues: <br />Robinson provided the following information: <br />A resolution recommending approval of an ordinance amending sections <br /> <br /> <br />17.16.030 and 17.16.130 of the Louisville Municipal Code (LMC) to change <br />the minimum building separation requirements from then (10) feet to five (5) <br />feet. <br />The Louisville Municipal Code (LMC) currently requires that principal <br /> <br /> <br />structures on the same lot be separated by at least 10 feet. <br />Accessory structures must be at least 10 feet from principal structures, <br /> <br /> <br />whether on the same lot or different lots. <br />The development of a site is currently limited by setbacks, lot coverage, floor <br /> <br /> <br />area ratio, height and building separation. <br />The 2009 International Building Code (IBC) adopted by the City does not <br /> <br /> <br />require 10 feet between structures for fire safety reasons. Instead, minimum <br />building separation requirements are determined by the types of materials and <br />insulation used in the buildings. Today, when the IBC requires more <br />separation between structures than the zoning code minimum, the IBC <br />requirements prevail. <br /> <br />
