Continued <br />from the May 10, 2012 meeting. <br />Conflict of Interest: <br />None heard. <br />Staff Report of Facts and Issues: <br />Russ discussed/reviewed the following: <br />Purpose of a Comp Plan – The Comp Plan is a public policy tool intended to <br /> <br /> <br />integrate and align governing regulations, infrastructure, and services with <br />community values, needs and civic priorities, through a manageable 20-year <br />window. <br /> <br />Aspiration Document illustrating a community-based vision. <br /> <br /> <br />Sets the policy framework (goals & objectives) for functioning of the <br /> <br />vision. <br /> <br />Outlines implementation goals and ongoing monitoring of the vision: <br /> <br />Land Development Regulations <br /> <br /> <br />Transportation Decisions <br /> <br /> <br />Infrastructure Needs <br /> <br /> <br />Capital Investments <br /> <br /> <br />Prioritization of Community Services <br /> <br /> <br />Regional coordination and ongoing decision-making <br /> <br /> <br />Vision Statement <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Align Principles and Policies <br /> <br /> <br />How to use the plan – the vision statement should provide a concise <br /> <br />summary of what the City of Louisville is today and wished to achieve in <br />the future. The ingredients of a Vision Statement should include: <br />Positive present tense language <br /> <br /> <br />Qualities that provide a feeling for the City’s uniqueness <br /> <br /> <br />Inclusiveness of the City diverse population and their aspirations <br /> <br /> <br />A focus on people and quality of life <br /> <br /> <br />A stated time period <br /> <br /> <br />Public Outreach <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />20 stakeholder meetings and community meetings were held. <br /> <br />A community workshop had approximately 50 participants <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />www.EnvisionLouisvilleCo.com <br /> <br />To date: 128 participants, 74 ideas and 124 comments. <br /> <br /> <br />Russ discussed the Draft Vision Statement, as well as the fourteen core values. He <br />requested discussion/direction from the Planning Commissioners. <br />Public Comment: <br />Andy Johnson, 920 Lincoln, stated he is a member of LSAB. He complemented staff <br />of the latest revisions. He continued with a recommendation of changes to <br />Sustainable Practices. (Suggestions were incorporated and a draft of the <br />modifications are included as part of these minutes. See below.) <br /> <br />
