<br />15.12.050 Fire lane requirements. <br /> <br />A. Single family residences which are located more <br />than one hundred fifty feet from the closest public <br />street right-of-way shall provide a fire lane from the <br />street to the residence and the fire lane shall be no <br />less than sixteen feet wide. <br /> <br />B. All multifamily housing units, buildings over <br />one hundred fifty feet in length, and all buildings more <br />than thirty feet in width, shall have ready access to the <br />rear of the building by public roadway or fire lane. <br /> <br />C. All buildings, except single family residences, <br />three stories or greater in height, shall have ready <br />access on public streets or fire lanes to at least two <br />sides of the building from which a rescue can be made. <br />Access for rescue means doorways or windows. If there is <br />no access for rescue on the sides of the building, then <br />fire lanes shall exist on the front and back of the <br />building. <br /> <br />D. No platted street in multifamily, industrial, <br />business or commercial development ending in a cul-de-sac <br />or some other design shall exceed three hundred feet in <br />length without providing a secondary fire lane access. <br /> <br />E. No platted street in a single family area <br />ending in a cul-de-sac or some other design shall exceed <br />five hundred feet in length without providing a secondary <br />fire lane access. <br /> <br />Section 3. Subsections A, B, C, and F of Section 15.12.060 <br />of the Louisville Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as <br />follows (words to be deleted are stricken through; words to be <br />added are capitalized): <br /> <br />15.12.060 Fire lane specifications. <br /> <br />A. Fire lanes shall be clearly marked with an <br />approved sign and kept clear of obstruction. THE <br />LOCATION AND CONFIGURATION OF ALL FIRE LANES SHALL BE <br />APPROVED BY THE CITY PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. <br /> <br />B. Fire lanes shall be at least twenty feet wide <br />at buildings and no less than sixteen feet wide at all <br />otl.er locations, BUT MAY BE REDUCED TO SIXTEEN FEET WIDE <br />UPON APPLICATION TO AND APPROVAL OF THE CITY. FIRE LANE <br />WIDTH REQUIREMENTS MAY BE INCREASED BY THE CITY WHERE <br />NORMAL WIDTHS ARE INADEQUATE FOR FIRE OR RESCUE <br />OPERATIONS. <br /> <br />2 <br />
