<br />proposed property improvements, to encourage pedestrian uses within <br />Old Town, to provide for the replacement of structures destroyed by <br />calamity and to encourage the preservation of solar access; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such zone district is needed to accommodate and <br />achieve orderly and harmonious development within Old Town and is <br />necessary to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the <br />community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in connection with the creation of an Old Town <br />Overlay District, the City Council desires to designate the <br />boundaries of the said district and amend the Zoning District Map <br />of the City accordingly; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City Council has provided notice of a public hearing <br />on said zoning amendment by publication as provided by law and held <br />a public hearing as provided in said notice; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville Planning Commission, after notice and <br />hearing, has recommended the City Council's approval of this <br />ordinance and amendment of the Zoning District Map of the City to <br />establish the Old Town Overlay District. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. Chapter 17.08 of the Louisville Municipal Code <br />~s hereby amended by the addition of a new Section 17.08.167 to add <br />a definition of the term "Floor Area Ratio" to read as follows: <br /> <br />17.08.167 <br /> <br />Floor area ratio. <br /> <br />"Floor area ratio" means the total square feet of <br />floor area of all buildings on a lot divided by total lot <br />area. <br /> <br />Section 2. Section 17.12.010 of the Louisville Municipal <br />Code, is hereby amended by redesignating the first paragraph <br />thereof as subsection A of Section 17.12.010, redesignating the <br />current subsections A through S as paragraphs 1 through 19 <br />respectively of subsection A of Section 17.12.010, redesignating <br />the existing concluding paragraph as subsection B, and by the <br />addition of a new subsection C to read as follows: <br /> <br />17.12.010. <br /> <br />District categories. <br /> <br />C. In addition to the basic zoning districts <br />established by this section, there is established an <br />overlay zone district designated as the Old Town Overlay <br />District. This district is intended to encompass the <br />historical Old Town residential area of the city in order <br />to maintain its existing character. Regulations may be <br /> <br />2 <br />
