The Ordinance proposes amendments
to Section 7 of the Commercial Development and Design Standards and Guidelines
(CDDSG) pertaining to the regulation of signage. The CDDSG were originally adopted
by Ordinance No 1242 in 1996, amended in 1998 and 2000. The following amendments
propose to; 1) regulate letter heights on wall mounted signs, 2) regulate the amount of
translucent background allowed for an internally illuminated sign cabinet, and 3) address
the architectural treatment of monument signs.

Section 7.2 Sign Number and Area amends the allowed surface area for a commercial-
office sign, increasing the area from 20 to 40 SF, which allows 24" high letters,
appropriate for 2 and 3-story office buildings. The amendment would not increase the
allowed number of signs for commercial office use, but would limit the number of signs
utilizing 24" letters, to two signs.
