Open Space Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />June 13, 2012 <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />The City has implemented a two week trail closure at Daughenbaugh due to <br />reported defensive Coyote behavior. <br />Hillside trail work begins next weekandconsists of a concrete trail connection <br />from the main trail to Larkspur Court. <br />Hecla Management Plan is under contract. <br />Davidson Mesa and Hecla bird survey field work is complete. The consultant is <br />working on compiling the data and drafting a report. <br />Education – Touch a Truck program a big success. The City hosted the Clever <br />Coyote presentation at the Recreation Center day camp program. <br />VI. Board Updates <br />The first Davidson Mesa Geocache participant completed the multi cache trail and sent <br />in his picture. Lafayette is interested in doing a geocache project. <br />Warembourg fishing pond is full. <br />Tom’s neighbors asking about dragon flies. Lynn recommended Boulder County Parks <br />and Open Space has a brochure onidentifying dragon fliesand that the author is Anne <br />Cooper, check out volunteer naturalist training site. <br />VII. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda – <br />None <br />VIII. Discussion: Partnerships for Future Open Space Acquisitions – <br />Tom shared City of Louisville Candidate Open Space acquisition matrix and map. He <br />rd <br />called out that the 3ranked property, UU is in the City of Lafayette, west and south <br />area. UU is also highest on Lafayette list (~85 score) (above Mayhoffers, ~62) – the <br />numeric score is based on items such as: proximity, riparian, resource values, flood <br />plan property, IGA property. <br />IX. Discussion: Trail Connectivity between Cities – <br />Lafayette Powerline project is starting. This will be a crusher fine trailbuilt by youth <br />corps. The North End developers are supposed to complete the Louisville section later <br />this year. <br />Currently there is an above grade crossing planned to connect the Hecla trailto the <br />Harney Lastokaproperty. Board members would rather have an underpass. <br />Sports completed to Highway 42 redevelopment section – desirable to have a <br />connection. <br />
