PARADE OF EFFICIENT LIGHTS I11 conjunction with the Parade of Lights, the Louisville Sustain - ability Advisory Board is spon- soring a tutorial about energy - efficient lighting on Thursday, December 1, at 7:00 PM in the second floor board room of the Louisville Public Library (951 Spruce Street). Dave Szabados, Facilities Manager for the City of Louisville, will share his in -depth knowledge of energy saving light bulbs, including CFLs and LEDs. He offers a dynamic and very informative presentation that helps home and business owners alike to make informed deci- sions on saving money and energy through light bulb selection. THE CITY AND THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZED The City and the Downtown Business Association were honored at the 2011 Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence. We received the Colorful Colo- rado award for the Main Street patios. The awards were presented by Downtown Colorado, Inc. in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. The award letter from Downtown Colorado Inc. stated: The before - and -after images of this project say it all - amazing downtown transformations can be achieved with locally - supported efforts, creative thinking and small budgets! Louisville's seasonal patios are an amazing idea, and extremely well - executed. They not only speak to the importance of balancing places for people with places for automobiles, they are also an important example of how downtown businesses can take a good idea and champion it through all levels of design and implementation. Apparently we aren't the only ones who love our downtown! 2012 DOG LICENSES Now AVAILABLE The City Clerk's Office is now selling 2012 dog li- censes. Residents, who currently have their dogs licensed, will be sent letters with an option to register by mail. Proof of a current rabies vaccina- tion is required. Costs for licenses are as follows: Spayed female dog - $10.00 Unspayed female - $15.00 Neutered Male dog - $10.00 Unneutered Male dog - $15.00 The City Clerk's Office is located on the 1st Floor of City Hall, 749 Main Street. YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD LAUNCHES dear cj,ouisville The Youth Advisory Board invites all Louisville youth ages 18 and younger to give us a glimpse of your life. The Board has created a specific Dear Louisville postcard and is asking youth to use the cards to submit a creative picture, story, poem, or any other idea, that gives a look at your life in Louisville. Completed postcards will be col- lected and selected postcards will be published in the Youth Advisory Board's Dear Louisville book which will be available for order from the Board's web site. Postcards will be available at the Library's Teen LOFT, the Recreation Center, and handed out at the Pa- rade of Lights.
