Louisville City Council Meeting <br />March 6, 2001 <br />Page 17 <br /> <br />Keany asked Public Works Director Phare if a new access point would be created if this <br />application is approved, and the existing access closed. Phare stated that was his <br />understanding of the proposal. <br /> <br />Keany stated that the access to the Old Louisville Inn and the Arapahoe Building will be <br />lost because of this building's approval. He stressed that there is a risk for truck traffic <br />and tenants in those buildings. He stated that there will be no parking for delivery trucks <br />and the curb cut proposed would cut off access through the alley. <br /> <br />Olson stated that there would not be a closure of the current access and that a new access <br />will be made for his building. Phare stated the exiting drive cut is on railroad frontage <br />and neither the City nor the applicant has jurisdiction to close the alley. <br /> <br />MOTION: Brown moved that Council approve Resolution No. 17 Series 2001, <br />seconded by Howard. Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote of 4-0. <br />Keany abstained. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 18, SERIES 2001 - A SPECIAL REVIEW USE, SPRING <br /> CREEK MUSIC, $01 MAIN STREET, STA~ MERCANTILE BUILDING <br /> <br />Davidson called for Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Planning Director Paul Wood reviewed that the applicant Jay Stem, represented by Erik <br />Hartronft, Hartronft Fauri Architects, is proposing to operate a music studio at 801 Main <br />Street. The proposed studio is to be located in a tenant finish area at the northeast corner <br />of the basement level. The location was chosen, as it is directly below the main floor <br />restrooms, so there is no occupied office space above the proposed music studio. <br /> <br />Wood noted that the 801 Main Street building received final PUD approval in 1997. The <br />building has a total square footage of 16,605 SF. Uses approved for the building are retail <br />and office with both retail and office permitted on the basement, first and second levels. <br />If authorized, the studio would occupy a 645 square foot tenant space located on the <br />basement level. <br /> <br />Wood stated that the proposed Spring Creek Music is a set of five music studios staffed <br />by six teachers providing instruction on guitar music education. Lessons will be one-on- <br />one instruction offered between the hours of 3 PM and 9 PM on Mondays, 3 PM to 7 PM <br />to 7 PM Tuesdays through Fridays and 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays. Wood noted <br />that the proposed facility would relocate the teaching studios out of Wildwood Music <br />directly across street. The facility would continue to offer the convenience to students of <br />Louisville Elementary and Louisville Middle School whereby students would be able to <br />walk or bike to their lessons after school. <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br /> <br />
