Louisville City Council Meeting
March 20, 2001
Page 16

Laura Page, 920 Rex Street, Louisville, CO stated that she favored Alternative F, because
it moves the road away from the City and preserves the open space and wildlife. She
stated that Alternative B would remove all the cottonwood trees.

Matt Jones, 265 Dahlia Drive, Louisville, CO, stated that the Louisville Citizen Open
Space Advisory Board met last evening and offers, through resolution, the following
recommendations. 1) Use the current 76th Street alignment (Option E) across Coal Creek
and 2) thoroughly investigate alternative funding sources to augment project costs before
project implementation. Further, the Louisville Open Space Advisory Board recommends
that if the investigation determines that using the current road alignment (Option E) is not
feasible, that project managers: 1) Actively ensure that land disturbance to the project
area be minimized. 2) Minimize the use of fill and minimize the use of a pillar type
construction to minimize the long-term impacts to wildlife habitat and movements. 3)
Actively restore the riparian and associated areas using native grasses, shrubs and trees,
which would be found in the area.

Pe~ Henneke, 401 County Road, Louisville, CO, commented that she favored closing
96 Street. She stated that she has lived at that address for over ten years and noticed an
incredible amount of the traffic passing by her house. She said that County Road gets
very busy and asked that Council consider closing 96th Street.

Linda Newbold, 9750 Empire Road, Unincorporated Boulder County, stated that
Alternative F would impact their home. She stated whichever alternative is chosen, it
would still impact their property. She noted that they have concerns with the entrance of
the highway and other CDOT issues. She concurred with the statements on preserving
the open space. She stated that a vast majority of use of the open space is the trails. She
agreed there would be an impact on the wetland and the wildlife. She stated that all three
of the homes would be unlivable and that Alternative F would cause families to move.
She voiced her opinion that B is the best alternative for maintaining the bike path area.

Doug Grinbergs, 530 W. Sycamore Circle, Louisville, CO, stated that he attended the
Open Space Advisory Board meeting and shares their concerns. He expressed his
appreciation of the Open Space Advisory Board and asked that the Council cOnsider their
recommendations. He referenced the Louisville Fishing Pond project and disturbance of
the open space and animal habitats. He asked Council to consider the environmental
impact of their decisions.

Pamela Vagnieers, 430 and 444 County Road, Louisville, CO, stated that they support the
Highway 42/96th Street Connection.

There were no further public comments.

Public Works Director Phare stated that it becomes cost prohibitive to proceed with all
the current alternatives to the next level of planning. He stated that there are timelines

16
