Strategic Planning FTP Objecitves_v1
July 30, 2012
Leslie Dinauer, Adrienne Gass, Aimee Schumm
Goal: Foster Technological Proficiency
The library strives to keep pace with the advancing technological needs of both
patrons and staff in order to best execute its mission to inform, involve, and inspire.
Objectives:
Maintain a virtual branch presence: The LPL will create and maintain a virtual
branch. More than a website, the virtual branch will provide interactive services
over the internet, such as chat reference, functional mobile apps (e.g., Boopsie), and
social media platforms.
Digital media lab: Explore possibility of digital media that will enable users to self -
publish and to creatively express themselves through digital video, music,
photography, websites, graphic design, podcasts, presentations, and other forms of
digital media.
Provide technology education: The LPL will become the educator of choice when
patrons seek to learn the technologies available both in the digital media lab, and in
the community. The LPL will also train staff at least once per month on new
technologies in their workplace so that they can not only answer patron questions,
but also perform most effectively.
Increase the diversity of media lending: The LPL will increasingly lend diverse
media, not only for book replacement (e.g., Nooks, Kindles), but also for to meet
community needs (e.g., laptops, LCD projectors).
