0 <br />v <br />0 <br />Open Space Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />July 12, 2006 <br />Page 4 of 4 <br />indicated that if the contract falls through he would be interested in looking at this <br />property. <br />Scott thanked everyone for providing input. <br />Scott Robson indicated that the Staff will explore the possibilities for purchasing <br />this property if the current proposal does not move forward. <br />The issue was turned back to the public. <br />Gaylen indicated that she would like the City to affirmatively ask the seller to <br />notify the City if this contract falls through. <br />Annie Hughes asked about the 15% public land dedication and Jeff Moline <br />indicated that the City agrees to that dedication. <br />The public thanked the Open Space Committee. <br />Staff Update: <br />Scott Robson indicated that the current budget needs to be cut back and as <br />consequence, the Hecla Lake trail and the CTC trail connection will not be <br />pursued this summer but the Hecla Lake trail will be pursued for the 2007 <br />budget. It was a difficult decision to make, but the reality of a difficult budget is <br />upon us. <br />Jeff Moline on the Gateway subdivision and indicated that we may acquire 5 <br />acres on the East Gateway property. Scott indicated that if we acquired it, then <br />the OSAB would need to develop a management plan for that property <br />Jeff indicated that the Colorado Division of Wildlife has permitted trapping prairie <br />dogs and delivering live prairie dogs to raptors. Jeff is doing the work to <br />demonstrate how prairie dogs populations can affect open space properties <br />negatively, and on what appropriate populations are for each property. <br />The trails day went well up on the Aquarius Property. <br />Scott indicated that the Walnut area may be appropriate for open space <br />designation and that we should visit it next month. He also indicated that it will <br />need to be reseeded next year. Tom indicated that a water dispenser should be <br />used for the community gardens. The Board expressed general support for the <br />current plan for the community gardens. <br />Next meeting items — Field trip to Walnut Park. Cottonwood update. <br />Discussion about the prioritization of open space parcels process. <br />Adjourn — The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 pm. <br />
