0
0
0
Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
DATE
commented on the graffiti, motorized scooters on trails, and biking and
skateboarding that is occurring on open space. He suggested that the trail to the
fishing pond from Cherry Street is unnecessary. There is an underpass at
Highway 42 that is often flooded that should be fixed. Also the trails map needs
to be redone.
Staff Update: Scott Robson updated OSAB about the passage of the rules by
the City Council and indicated that they would be working with the citizens of
Louisville who have encroached into open space to assure compliance. In
addition, the Staff indicated that the Community Gardens at Harney - Lastoka
would be occurring in the upcoming year. There was a discussion about the
importance of addressing the issues with compassion, and with an
acknowledgement of the fact that many of the people that live next to open space
have emotional attachments to their gardens on open space. There was a
discussion about the mountain lions sighted within Louisville, and the Staff is
working on signage and public education about the issues associated with having
mountain lions within the City. If sightings occur, the public should call the DOW
immediately at (303) 291 -7227. There has been education occurring at the
public schools within Louisville, as well.
Motions Passed: Michael Gheleta moved and Ted Kowalski moved that
beginning in April, OSAB move the meetings to the second Wednesday of every
month, in the City Council chambers, at 7 pm. The motion passed unanimously.
Michael Gheleta was nominated to be Chair. David Waldman was nominated to
be vice chair. John Carron was nominated to be secretary. The slate was
confirmed unanimously.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting
1. Dog leash proposals, perhaps
2. Looking at the reuse pipeline corridor revegetation, as a tour
3. Other Items as Staff determines necessary
Adjourn — The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 pm.
