Approval of Meeting Minutes <br />The minutes from the regular meeting held on September 1, 2005 were approved with <br />minor modifications to typos, spelling and grammar. Motion for acceptance by Mike <br />Fronczak. Second by Ellen Toon. <br />V. Public Comments Not On The Agenda <br />No public comments <br />VI. Community Park <br />Chris Lichty provided a report to the Board regarding construction progress at the <br />Community Park. The City decided to install sod instead of seeding and began work on <br />October 6. Discussion ensued about measures that will be used to protect the sod <br />while it is becoming established. Chris also observed that some of the evergreens were <br />being planted too close to sidewalk and too deep. Chris discussed with the contractor <br />and indicated that the contractor would replant those that need to be replanted. <br />Kathy Kron sought advice form Theresa on plant selection for the formal garden off of <br />• 96th Street (the northeast corner of the park). <br />Overall Chris is pleased with the progress on the community park. Theresa stated that <br />it is good that Chris is on top of the activity and that he should continue to monitor <br />progress, particularly regarding placement and planting of trees. <br />VII. Arboretum Planning <br />A. Results of the City Council Study Session <br />Theresa attended the session and was able to discuss the Arboretum with the council <br />and explained the HFAB vision, plans and activity to date. She reports that she <br />explained that the Arboretum projects need to be integrated into the annual budget and <br />planning cycle. The council members received the planning documents that HFAB has <br />prepared and were able to view the drawings produced by Courtney Lockwood. <br />Theresa suggested that Rotary Club communicate to the city the partnership between <br />the City (HFAB) and the Club for the development of the Arboretum. <br />Dave Clabots thought the presentation was well received. <br />B. Preparation for October City Council Meeting <br />Members discussed that the purpose for HFAB making a presentation to the City <br />Council was to provide support for the budget request for Arboretum projects.
