• <br />Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />October 6, 2005 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Clabot's recommendation is to assess the need after the November election when there <br />is a new Council and consider requesting time in November or December. <br />C. Fundraising Strategies for the Arboretum <br />This should be'addressed during the winter sessions; discuss ideas of the pavers with <br />names, other to be placed in the Aroboretum. Discussed events to use the facility and <br />to raise money. <br />The Board discussed the possibility of obtaining grants. Board members agreed that an <br />effort needs to be put forth to identify potential sources. Dave Russell volunteered to do <br />some research on the internet and other sources to identify the sources and learn what <br />steps need to be taken to qualify and apply. <br />VIII. Forestry Ordinance <br />Council will review on the 25th of October. The ordinance is on the land management <br />web page. Chris will attend the meeting. <br />Caryl asked for clarification of language regarding the scope of the application of the <br />ordinance and the authority of the City Forester. The City Forester is to approve certain <br />planting and maintenance activities on a "public place ". Caryl noted that public place <br />would include open space. The ordinance could apply to open space, but Chris stated <br />• that as a matter of practice any activities on open space would be handled by the Open <br />Space Coordinator. <br />IX. Open Government Charter Amendment <br />No new information. <br />X. McCaslin /Hwy: 36 Interchange <br />Chris reported that the pedestrian bridge will not be ready for awhile. It is coming from <br />Germany. The landscaping for the interchange has been approved. <br />XI. Gateway Signage and Landscaping <br />The design material for the sign has been sent to Kathy Kron for review. Chris will find <br />out from Kathy to see if she has made any progress. <br />XII.
