0
LOUISVILLE HORTICULTURE AND FORESTRY BOARD
December 2, 2004
Opening:
The meeting of the Horticulture and Forestry Board was called to order at 7PM rather
than 6:30 (as half the members thought we were still on our regular schedule) on
November 18, 200 in the Louisville Recreation Center's Paramount Room by Susan
Spaulding.
Present:
Susan Spaulding, Chair
Michael Frontczak
Judith Turner
Terry Cook
Theresa Rounds
Matt
Ellen Toon
Fred Banta, Alternate
Chris Lichty, City Forester
Guests:
None
A. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous 2 meetings were unanimously approved as distributed.
Old Open Business
Historical Museum
Susan brought the plan for the museum. Chris will make copies for every board member.
The hardscape is in place. The sidewalk is different than planned.
C. New Business
Arboretum Comprehensive Plan
Susan developed and distributed a short history on HFAB's involvement with the
Arboretum. What is clear is that this subject has been approached and dropped
repeatedly since 1999. On going issues include parking (now rectified), access (bridge
now in place), signage (mixed review), irrigation (Chris believes us to be in decent shape
with overhead irrigation), and trails.
Chris wishes not to mow very much however neighbors are used to a more manicured
grass area — it's primarily an educational issue.
At one point a grant request was written for $70,000 to provide funding for the
development of a master plan. Zones were originally planned for the arboretum. We
need to develop an outline of what we want the plan to provide.
