• <br />• <br />LOUISVILLE HORTICULTURE AND FORESTRY BOARD <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 2, 2003 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Louisville Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board was <br />called to order at 5:07PM on October 2 in the Louisville Arboretum by Michael Frontzak. <br />Present: <br />Betty Solek <br />David Russell <br />Michael Frontczak <br />Judith Turner <br />Terry Cook <br />Chris Lichty, City Forester <br />Guests: <br />Chuck Reno <br />A. Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were discussed. While most present were content <br />with the minutes as distributed, Betty Solek requested modifications to the section <br />concerning the Xeric demonstration garden. Terry agreed to amend the minutes and <br />distribute a revision. <br />B. Old Open Business <br />McCaslin Interchange — Chris to check to see if Jerry Shapins of Shapins Associates was <br />planning to present further designs at HFAB's November meeting. Members also <br />questioned whether they should request the City to contribute money to improve the <br />current landscaping plans for the new interchange. <br />Tree Ordinance — Cindy Lair is reviewing the proposed ordinance as developed by the <br />former city forester, Dave Sexton. If all her questions are answered, she will take it to the <br />city attorney for review. <br />C. New Business <br />Louisville's Xeric Demonstration Garden Site Visit <br />This meeting was held on -site with Chuck Reno presenting plans for the garden which <br />will be located within the City's Arboretum. <br />Two mounded areas had been created using soil available from the escavation of the new <br />Police Department Building. Betty voiced her desire to have the furthest mound closer to <br />the sitting area, although it is unrealistic to move it now. <br />
