•
•
Chuck proposed dividing the mounds into sections with each section containing a single
species of plant. Each area would be delineated with buff - colored concrete with fiber
mesh and sleeves underneath the concrete to accommodate irrigation. The concrete
would be wide enough to also serve as footpaths allowing people to get closer to the plant
materials and to aid in garden maintenance. He had used this approach with great success
previously in his career.
Irrigation is planned as drip with one zone per mound. A water sensor in each mound,
perhaps several, would be connected to a battery- operated clock. Our choice in plant
material would, of course, affect the zoning for the irrigation.
We discussed addition of 2 more mounds in the future to complete the area. HFAB will
work on developing a plant list this winter for the initial two mounds.
As we examined the landscape /scenery views from the garden site, HFAB agreed with
Chris that the existing wooden fence to the west needs to be removed.
Chris discussed the budget for the garden.
Judy had visited the Xeric Demonstration garden in Longmont, located at Hwy 287 &
Quail. While small in size, she felt there was value in members visiting it.
D.
