Principle HS-4. <br />The City should implement consumptive-use technologies to conserve water that is <br />not returned to the sanitary sewer and reduce wastewater treatment plan energy costs.(most outdoor- <br />use water). <br />Policy HS-4.1 <br />: The City should invest in infrastructure which returnsrunoff to groundwater to recharge. <br />Principle HS-5: Municipal water systemsshould capture and treatusing state-of-the art systems to <br />meet or surpass state and federal water quality standards. <br />Policy HS-5.1 <br />:The City should pursuesustainablewastewater treatment processes to achieve water quality <br />improvements with greater energy efficiency and minimal chemical use. <br />Policy HS-5.2 <br />:The City should continuallyseek to improve the quality of drinking water and work with other <br />water and land use interests as needed to assure the integrity and quality of its drinking water supplies. <br />Policy HS-5.2 <br />: The City should maintainmunicipal systems to eliminate leakage andenforce penalties for <br />commercial/residential waste. <br />Principle HS-6.The City should encourage new development and redevelopment measures that <br />conserve water. <br />Policy HS-6.2 <br />: The City shouldestablish a combination of incentives, education,tiered rates,and restrictions <br />that encouragewater conservation. <br />Policy HS-6.3 <br />: The City should encourage equipment, systems and approaches which conserve and protect <br />water sources. <br />Page 2of 2 <br />
