Louisville Historical Commission
Subcommittee Meeting Minutes
November 15, 2012
Spruce Room, City Hall
749 Main Street
10:00
AM
Commission Members Present: Jennifer Strand, Gladys Levis-Pilz. Subcommittee members
Dan Mellish and Lynn Koglin were unable to attend.
Also Present: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
The attendees met regarding the Historical Commission’s decision in April to pursue the
creation of a separate foundation. At a past subcommittee meeting, the four subcommittee
members signed up to collect information about specific other city museum foundations in the
area and how they operate.
At this meeting, the attendees discussed their ongoing efforts to collect information from other
museum foundations. Gladys has started to compile the results of the findings and noted
some similarities in such things as mission statements, length of terms, and numbers of board
members for the other museum foundations being looked at. Gladys has also looked at the
types of events and projects typically organized by other museum foundations. Bridget offered
to collect information on which museum foundations have their own websites and to send it to
Gladys.
The attendees thought that a good goal for the next meeting would be to work on developing
bylaws using the information that has been collected from other museum foundations, and
possibly use the Louisville Public Library Foundation bylaws as a start.
The attendees also discussed other steps in the process towards creating a separate
foundation. There is not yet a date for a next meeting.
City of Louisville
Louisville Historical Museum
749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303-665-9048 (phone) 303-335-4550 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov
