Louisville City Council Meeting
April 17, 2001
Page 5

PROCLAMATION -ARBOR DAY

Mayor ProTem Sisk read the proclamation proclaiming the week of April 30 as Arbor
Week in the City of Louisville. Arbor Day will be observed on Saturday, May 5, 2001.

David Russell, 636 Garfield Lane, Louisville, CO, accepted the proclamation on behalf of
the Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board (HFAB). He stated that the Arbor Day
celebration is combined with the Earth Day celebration on the 5th of May. He stated that
the City's Forester will be at the Arboretum to answer questions. He noted that because
of the limited parking, transportation will be available to take the public to the
Arboretum.

Brown commended the Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board and the City Council
on their foresight to establish the Arboretum.

ORDINANCE NO. 1359, SERIES 2001 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE
VACATION OF PORTIONS OF TWO ALLEY RIGHTS-OF-WAY WITHIN THE
JOHNSON'S FIRST ADDITION SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE
- 2na reading - public hearing (advertised Daily Camera 3/24/01)

Sisk called for City Attorney introduction.

City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1359, Series 2001.

Sisk opened the public hearing and called for Staff presentation.

Planning Director Paul Wood reviewed that Ordinance 1359, Series 2001 proposes to
vacate two public alley rights of way running north-south across Lot 15, Johnson's First
Addition. Wood stated that the request has been initiated by the property owners (Susan
McEachern and Chip Pancoast) in coordination with a minor subdivision replat
application for the property. The property was originally subdivided in 1890 as part of
Johnson's First Addition. The alleys were each platted by separate deed, not by the
original Johnson's First Addition subdivision plat. Wood stated that based on existing
parcel configurations, and those proposed with the pending replat, Staff has not identified
a need for these alleys for either public access or public utilities.

Wood stated that the Planning Commission reviewed the replat application and the alley
vacation requests on March 13, 2001 and forwarded a recommendation for approval. The
Planning Commission and Staff recommendation required elimination of a third alley,
which had also been requested for vacation.

Sisk called for Applicant presentation.

5
