Louisville City Council Meeting <br />April 17, 2001 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Brown reminded Louisville citizens of the Home Rule Charter Forum, hosted by the <br />League of Women's Voters. The Forum will be held at the Louisville Recreation Center, <br />on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Sisk addressed the Home Rule Charter Forum and asked that citizens exercise their right <br />to vote on Tuesday, May 1, 2001. He noted that the City Council meeting will be held on <br />Wednesday, May 2, 2001. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION -CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH <br /> <br />Mayor ProTem Sisk read the proclamation proclaiming the month of April, 2001 as Child <br />Abuse Awareness Month in the City of Louisville. <br /> <br />Kitty Sargent, 839 W. Mahogany Circle, Louisville, representing the Blue Sky Bridge, a <br />County child abuse agency, accepted the proclamation. She thanked Council for raising <br />the level of awareness about the problem of child abuse. She stressed that education and <br />prevention will help end child abuse. She explained that the Blue Sky Bridge is a child <br />abuse advocacy program, which was formally located in Niwot, and has moved to a <br />facility in Boulder. She stated that Blue Sky Bridge is an advocacy center and is a <br />member of a national organization and a Colorado alliance. She explained that the <br />facility provides resources to perform forensic investigation of child abuse allegations. <br />She explained that victims of child abuse are brought to the facility by Social Services. <br />She noted that Blue Sky Bridge also provides community education and training to <br />professionals who work with children and the general public. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - EARTH DAY <br /> <br />Mayor ProTem Sisk read the proclamation proclaiming Earth day. He noted that <br />Louisville's Resource Conservation Advisory Board (LRCAB), Horticulture, and <br />Forestry Advisory Board (HFAB) have planned the fourth annual Earth Day/Arbor Day <br />celebration in Louisville. This year's celebration is planned for May 5, 2001 at <br />Cottonwood Park. <br /> <br />David Clabots, 725 Lincoln Avenue, representing the LRCAB Board accepted the <br />proclamation. Clabots encouraged everyone to attend the festivities at Cottonwood Park, <br />on May 5, 2001, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. He encouraged carpooling because of <br />limited parking. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
